Patricia Melendez is a senior at Georgia State University and is working on completing her Bachelor’s Degree in International Economics and Modern Languages (Concentration: German) and a Minor in Political Science and wishes to one day participate actively in Puerto Rican politics. She is a proud member of the GSU Model United Nations Team and an award-winning delegate for both the NMUN Japan 2016 and NMUN New York 2016 Conferences. Recently, Patricia received the honor of being appointed President of the Model United Nations Board for the upcoming year. She has also previously directed the Economic Social Council during the GSUMUN 2016 Conference and served as Rapporteur for the United Nations Environment Programme in 2015. In her spare time, Patricia enjoys participating in long, healthy Netflix marathons and bonding with her friends through cheap food and harsh criticism. Patricia looks forward to being Director of the GA First Committee on International Security and Disarmament and wishes to congratulate all participating delegates for their interest in global affairs and commitment to the international community.
Nissaba Stover will be your Assistant Director for the General Assembly First Committee. Ms. Stover is a sophomore at Georgia State University and is working on completing her Bachelor’s Degree in Political Science with a concentration in International Affairs (she’s also considering taking up philosophy as a minor). Ms. Stover is proud to be a new member of GSU’s Model United Nations team and anticipates using her experiences in Model United Nations toward a future career in public relations. Outside of classes, she can be found working as a SAT instructor at The Princeton Review or as a crew member at Chipotle, reading dystopian short fiction, listening to her favorite band, Hyukoh, or cruising around on her longboard. Ms. Stover considers her role as an assistant director in GSUMUN 2017’s GA First Committee on International Security and Disarmament to be a chance to finally see committee from the perspective of a dais member and as an opportunity to encourage high school delegates to discover their abilities to be advocates of change on an international scale.
